Hains: That's it From Brossard

The Habs practiced in Brossard for one last time today before flying off to Toronto and continue their preparation for the series against Pittsburgh.

While not necessarily a fan of the lines, I do understand the underlying logic.

Pens have last change in the first 2 games and can throw out either Crosby or Malkin against weaker lines, so Julien is trying to mitigate one or two lines being eaten alive. Whether that works or not, we will see, but this strategy limits the offensive capabilities of the Habs.

I think they might be better off trying to push the speed game and at least try outscore the Pens with the strongest top 9 line combinations.

If the lines stay as they are, we will likely see the Habs not able to generate much offense, and while potentially limiting Pens scoring, still watch the Pens put up enough goals to easily beat the Habs.

Go balls to the wall, blaze of glory over slow boring hockey.

Habs are not gonna win anyways, unless Price gets 3 shutouts in a row.

I stand by my Pens in 4 prediction.

I can understand his logic but it comes at a terrible time for Domi and while Julien might want to have 4 talented lines, his team just isn’t deep enough to do that.

Well, nothing prevents Julien from swapping Domi with KK if the latter doesn't perform. Moreover, the potential for injuries after such a long layoff and short prep are higher than normal, so Domi could move up the lineup. Also no reason, in a short series, for not double shifting some wingers. Maybe Drouin will line up with Domi if the situation warrants it (pulling from behind--something likely to occur). And lastly, IF (I have no inside knowledge on this) any of the vague rumours about Domi being a bit less of a "team player" this past season are true, perhaps this (very tentative, pre-series) lineup assignment is just a bit of a reminder that no one is "too important" to pitch in wherever asked. In the end, we're not privy to what is said away from mics and cameras (nor should we be) and Domi is a professional--he's paid handsomely to do a job. If his boss is wrong, Domi's play will show that.

pat. came out today crawford had the covid
- Gramps28

he had it, so now he's recovered and waiting for his quarantine to be over to join the team?

I'm really curious to see if they'll be able to actually finish these playoffs, or if they'll have to stop due to a major outbreak amongst players

I doubt they finish, the planning all seems very good however Covid doesn't have a plan.

I think the risk of an outbreak will decrease in the bubble, they’ll be either at the arena or the hotel all the time seeing no one else and no one will go in or out of the bubble. The NHL plan seems excellent when you compare to MLB who have got teams flying all over from city to city now that seems like a recipe for disaster. As for Crawford, he has joined the team I believe hasn’t he? Will take more than Crawford for the Hawks to overcome the Oilers though

They have said that those who are sick will be removed but Bettman did say that a serious outbreak could jeopardize the plan...he stopped short of defining what a serious outbreak is though...

in theory if ALL players truly respect the bubble, it'll work, but they are human after all, and we all know how stupid humans can be lol... and it doesn't have to be someone inside the bubble that is at fault, it could be someone outside who "breached in". anyways I guess the league already thought of everything, or tried to at least. I'm surprised things have gotten this far and that they'll actually play hockey. GO HABS GO

I'd like to believe this Karine however all it will take is 1 or 2 knuckleheads to test the system and poof, and we are dealing with young men.

I hope you are right and they pull this off, hockey again.

they'll be removed for the remainder of the playoffs? it's tricky with those false-positive results...and yeah they should have a clear definition of that threshold for when to pull the plug in case of an outbreak

Until they’re better I guess...I know there is a lot of uncertainty but giving the fact that the MLS is managing to pull this off in Florida, I think the NHL will be fine north of the border.... Well, I hope they will be anyways because even though it’s summer, I’ll be more than happy to watch some hockey. Summer, pool and sun are great but what better way to finish the day then playoffs hockey?

That’s all we have for now really, hope since there’s no way to know for sure...but it seems to be working for the mls (appart from the 2 teams that pulled out) and for the Premiership in England as well...

that's a good point, considering the hot mess that was (and still is?) Florida.

I'm curious what it'll be like watching this on TV with the empty seats and fake crowd noises lol
